| Pre-Recruitment Requirements |
Eligibility Generally, year 2 students apply to be a Teaching Assistant. However, if you wish to apply in your first year of study, you can only be allowed to be a Teaching Assistant in the Second Semester. This means that you are not expected to start demonstrating as soon as you are enrolled for your current course. You are expected to complete a TA training course and Lab Induction before you can start demonstrating in teaching laboratories. Lab Induction is COMPULSORY
Teaching Assistant Training You are expected to complete the TA training course arranged and taught by the Staff and Development Unit at the University. To enroll at the Graduate Teaching Assistant Training course, please click here.
National Insurance Number You cannot be paid, if you do not have a National Insurance Number (NI). You will need to apply for NI as soon as you know that you have been selected. Once you obtain the NI, please notify HR Services as soon as possible. For more information about NI and how to apply, please click here

TA Surgery |
It is important that you attend the TA Surgery. You will be able to collect your contract and submit it at the same surgery, if you take all required documents with you. If you would not be able to complete the documentation at the surgery, you will need to pay visit to the HR office and complete all formalities yourself. In order to save you time and avoid any unnecessary delays, it is highly recommneded that you complete all paperwork at the surgery. |
